Some of the older carburators have faulty floats and worn needle seats that are known to flood or leak fuel on occasion. Having a replacement electric fuel pump that delivers heavy pressure doesn't help the situation. You can install a fuel regulator to maintain proper gas pressure before it reaches the carburator. You might avoid an unfortunate gas spill.
